First Solar Water Treatment Facility Project Completion
Breaking Ground and Breaking Barriers: The First Solar Water Treatment Facility Project Completed

Subject 2 of 4
Innovation is a core value at Southern Organizations, and this quarter we proudly completed our first solar-powered water treatment facility for New Iberia Waterworks District No. 3 — a milestone project that engaged every division of Southern Constructors from start to finish, showcasing the incredible efficiency of the team. This facility is engineered to filter thousands of gallons of water daily, supporting the adjacent 2.4 million sq. ft. solar panel manufacturing facility for First Solar. Our work ensures a sustainable and reliable water system tailored for one of the most advanced renewable energy sites in the region.
Led by Seth Plaisance (Water & Sewer Project Manager) and Kent Broussard (Construction Manager: Water & Sewer) — with Hagan Riche (Senior Project Manager) overseeing the concrete work. Seth stated, "This project took us 9-10 months to complete; a project of this magnitude should easily take 13-15 months for completion." Our fabrication division (led by Todd Bourque) measured, cut, and fabricated every yellow-manufactured piece in-house, ensuring precision and quality at every step. This project highlights the communication, efficiency, and quality work our guys produce at every jobsite.
The "First Solar Manufacturing Facility" stands as New Iberia, Louisiana's largest infrastructure investment to date (estimated $1.1 Billion), and we are proud to be part of that initiative, with the water treatment facility.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the seamless collaboration across all Southern Constructors divisions — from site prep to electrical, SCADA, fabrication, concrete, and beyond. A huge thank you to everyone involved for bringing this visionary project to life.
